Detail of the texture of the Shell. This sculpture was made using only hand tools. Most of my sculptures are made using power tools. I wanted the experience of carving without loud noises and flying chips and saw dust. In order to accomplish this, I engaged in a 5-day intensive at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine. Chris Pye, a Master Carver from England, was my instructor.
